Carrying our Chaos
Emotional Baggage weighs us all down at times. For most of us, we stick it in a suitcase with our burdens, cares and worries that crowd our minds and cloud, our judgment. Our hurts, pain, anxieties, and fears, all shoved together and weighing us down every day.
We are all carrying our suitcase of ‘stuff’, but we don’t have to. We are not meant to carry our burdens alone. Psalm 55:22 in The Passion Translation reminds us of this.
So here’s what I’ve learned through it all:
Leave all your cares and anxieties at the feet of the Lord,
and measureless grace will strengthen you.
We are not meant to carry our cares and burdens alone. Set them at the feet of Jesus and trust Him to see you through this time. It’s time to move forward. Leave it there. The time of Permeating, ruminating, and revisiting the past is over, long over for some of us. We have access to streams of living water, yet we persist in our people problems and clog up our streams with our logs and broken branches of all the past moments of pain. Yes, they were terrible, awful, hurtful, heartbreaking, painful and unfair. Yes, it should not have happened like it did, yet, it is still the past, and the past is our history.
It is time to leave it at the feet of Jesus, to cast our cares upon Him and begin to get our path cleared and our purpose once again on track. Jesus knows what we went through. He understands our pain and our loss. He places people in our lives to help support us and bring us through the hard times. Each trial and time of testing brings up into a new place, a new opportunity to be who we are purposed to be in Christ. In our brokenness is where Christ works in us. In our pain, is where He sets our purpose, for it is in our times of weakness that we need Him more. When we need Him more, seek Him more, and trust Him more is where He works. In us, through us and for us.
Trust Jesus with the emotional baggage you have been carrying today. Trust Him with the things that were, and with the things that are yet to be.
“Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7
God has so much more for each one of us than we can ever imagine or think. Our focus determines our feet. What is in the suitcase that you are carrying today? Is it time to leave it at the feet of Jesus and trust Him with the past that has been blocking your path and your purpose?
For Discussion:
What is in your suitcase of chaos today?
What things are you carrying that it is time to lay down?
In the space that is left, what are you going to fill it with?
Lastly:
Psalm 20: 7-8
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
