The In-Between Seasons Season
Are you feeling like you are in between seasons right now? You have just come through a major challenge and there isn’t a clear view of a new season in front of you, and it feels in between. Is this you? Do you feel that maybe God who showed Himself in your season of challenge has left you? Maybe it all seems quiet and in limbo. That place where there seems to be more questions than answers, and doubt likes to show up with even more questions.
The between seasons season is when God works on us, in us, and for us. It is a time where He strengthens us for the next challenge, and molds us ready, for the next thing He has for us. It is a time to listen, pray and obey, and it is a time to rest in His presence. The in between season is a time to look back at the faithfulness of God in the season you have just moved through and the ones before that. It is a time to read of the faithfulness in the lives of history through the pages of His word, reach for more of Him through worship, and through prayer.
David’s psalm 28:1 lets us know that he felt pressure in the in between seasons where he sought God. “To you I call, O’ Lord my rock; do not turn a deaf ear to me.” Psalm 22:1 also gives us an example of this. “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from the words of my groaning?”
The psalms of David reflect his sorrow, pain, confusion, joy, and trust in His God. In whatever he faces in seasons of conflict, joy, exile, or fear, David trusts that His God will be there. Yes, he feels confusions, and questions where God is, then he seeks Him in his times of struggle and praises Him in his times of Joy. It is a great reminder for us to do the same.
In Psalm 142:1-3 he gives us this. “I cry out to the Lord; I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy. I pour out my complaint before Him, before Him I tell my trouble. When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who know my way”.
2 Corinthians 4:16 encourages us in these times with this instruction. “Therefore, we do not lose heart”. So, in the in between seasons season you may be in right now, trust God to be there with you, even when you can’t see his hand, for He is working in you, for you, and before you.
Lamentations 3:22-23 “Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning, great is your faithfulness”.
The in between seasons season is preparing and equipping us for the next season and is a time to regroup, remember, let God mold, shape, and prune us for the season ahead. Will you trust Him with the in between season’s in you life today?

Take Home:
In the times of in between season’s seasons, we sometimes feel like we are travelling alone, and that God is silent. It is in these times that our faith is tested. It is easy to trust God for the direction of our lives when we can see His hand and feel His presence. When life feels off kilter, and we are unsure of our next steps and where God is leading us, it is in this space that we are required to stand on faith. To trust even when we cannot see, to remember His faithfulness in our yesterdays, and to wait patiently for the Lord to reveal that next step.
